Committed!

O.k. you guys. I'm so scared spit less! I am actually signed up for a sprint triathlon. Here is the site http://fsseries.com/triathlons_washington.php I know it's not much but still... I'm scared. I am not a very good swimmer so I've pretty much been living in the water the past half week and until the competition. I'll be just happy if I don't drown or half way cling to the buoy as everyone passes me by. If anyone wants to come watch, and maybe laugh a little too, come on down. It's two hours away from Norfolk. O.k. I did it. I've admitted and committed. Love y'all.

  1. Marie! Thats so SO awesome! I've wanted to do a triathlon for quite a while but just haven't mustered up the girl power. Sometimes I think I was supposed to have been a fish cuz I love LOVE the water, but I'm with you. It scares me a little to have to speed swim.

I'm sure you'll do great...let me know how it goes.

  2. Wow, that is a big commitment. I am super impressed. I was just thinking I should do a marathon, maybe just a half marathon. Well, your my hero.

I just finished One Flew Over a Cuckoo's Nest. It's like a wave. First I loved it, then it dragged on, then it had a super surprising ending. Overall it was good. But not the best. Didn't you love My Antonia. Definitely one of my favorites.

  3. Wow! That is so cool! I have always wanted to try a triathlon. I always tell myself, "someday" Way to go! Signing up and telling people is the best way to commit yourself.

You'll have to bug our cousin Jen Harmon as she is the triathlete in the family. http://ironmanjen.blogspot.com/

I just happened to sign up for a 12 hour trail race (trail running). I'm a bit scared myself as I have never competed in such a long event before.

    Good luck!

  7. So here is my advice...Neal did a sprint and he said the worst part for him was the swim...he is not a swimmer. He said stay and wait until eveyone else is in the water and then you start swimming, less chance of getting kicked in the head or mauled by other swimmers.

The rest he said wasn't bad at all. Good luck...and i would love to join the sidelines and watch if I could.

  8. Very ambitious, Marie. I wish I could say I could come join you, but I don't think I am up for it. I'm sure I could do one leg for you though if it were a relay. . .?

  9. Very very awesome!!! I know you will do fantastic!! Dave and I are doing the Ogden 1/2 Marathon this Sat, this will be my 6th, and no feeling is better than crossing that finish line. It's addicting...it's like cross country, but 300x better :) Good luck!

  10. Marie!
You totally can do it! Make sure you warm up in the water I know you won't want to because it will be cold but it will calm you nerves a bit and when you start you won't be so shocked by the water! Don't go crazy at first, just a good pace then the second half pick it up a bit. It will make a huge difference, at least it did for me. You will do great, so much fun! Any questions, just ask! It will be great and you will be addicted I'm sure!
